While motorcycle taxis serve as the lifeblood of many cities in Africa, they are extremely unsafe and disorganised. Our safe, convenient, transportation platform provides for Africa’s booming young population as well as creates community and stability for our rider fleet. Our payments and on-demand services empower our users to transfer money, pay bills and deliver packages instantly from the comfort of their homes.Operational in Uganda and Kenya we are a venture-funded Series B company that is already having a huge impact on millions of people in Africa. Our backers include Google, Unbound, GoVentures (GoJek’s VC), AllianzX, Yamaha, and Beenext, among others. We have a passionate and highly engaged team of superstars based in East Africa. Together, we aim to revolutionise transport and payments delivery in Africa’s cities.

Position Summary

An Art Director is in charge of developing and maintaining a creative vision that speaks to customers, potential customers, or any person that interacts with the brand. To accomplish this, they do campaign strategies and manage teams of designers who work on creative projects such as film and television advertising, graphic design, and marketing campaigns.

Essential Duties

  • Generating clear ideas and concepts in tandem with the copywriter
  • Producing sketches, storyboards, and art layouts based on creative visions and ideas
  • Understanding the brand objectives and strategic positioning to determine marketing initiatives
  • Conducting research to better understand, target markets, and industry trends
  • Speaking with the company or internal clients to set goals, provide updates, receive feedback, incorporate suggestions then present the final campaign
  • Coordinating resources and within the marketing departments so as to create a cohesive, effective campaign
  • Hiring, training, and supervising design staff
  • Establishing budgets and timelines and delivering the finished campaign within those parameters.
  • Working with other members of the art department to evaluate client or company needs, develop project strategies, and create visual elements for ad campaigns

Qualifications and Requirments

  • Proficient use of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual design and wire-framing tools, a supporting portfolio, more education, or industry-specific knowledge may be required
  • Hands-on experience with logo design, typography, color, web layout design, print production, image selection and package design
  • Relevant education or training with a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, or a related field as an added advantage
